This training covers the supervision process that follows the Basic Level Training stage, which is a mandatory component of the International Schema Therapist Certification process. Supervision is one of the most important components of the certification process, enabling the integration of theoretical knowledge into clinical practice.
Throughout this process, participants are expected to apply the Schema Therapy model to their own cases, develop their case conceptualization skills, and deepen their therapeutic interventions.
The following requirements must be met to participate in the supervision process:
A brief preliminary interview may be requested prior to supervision when deemed necessary.
The supervision process is conducted in accordance with the standards established by the International Society for Schema Therapy.
The specified durations and hours are minimum requirements. The supervisor reserves the right to require additional supervision hours or additional case follow-up prior to the application.
Cases followed during the supervision process must meet specific criteria:
Scope of Supervision
For standard certification, working with two cases is required. It is important that at least one of these cases involves a personality pattern and is suitable for mode work.
Supervision can be conducted individually or in small groups. Group supervision offers a framework that both enriches learning and provides exposure to diverse case perspectives.
All specified durations and hours are the minimum standards set by the ISST. The supervisor reserves the right to request additional supervision hours or further case follow-ups if deemed necessary.
In the International Schema Therapy Certification process, applications must be submitted within specific time frames following the completion of didactic training. These time limits are essential for ensuring steady progression and maintaining current clinical competence.
If the specified time limits are exceeded, candidates are required to document that they have maintained their professional development. In this context, at least one of the following options must be fulfilled:
The specified timeframes and conditions apply except under extraordinary circumstances. Candidates are expected to adhere to these time limits to ensure the sound progression of the certification process.
