Born in Ankara in 1977, Psychological Counsellor and Psychotherapist Pekay Aydın completed her master’s degree in clinical psychology in 2016, and graduated from the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling at Istanbul University in 1999. She has worked as a psychological counsellor in kindergartens, primary schools, and Guidance and Research Centres.
Throughout her professional career, she has received numerous trainings and conducted many volunteer initiatives. She completed a three-year Group Psychodynamic training supervised by Nevin Eracar and a one-year theatre training, following which she conducted drama and theatre activities with students. She has coordinated projects related to substance abuse and challenging children, and has delivered educational programs for teachers, families, and children. Having received training in the education of autistic children provided by the Tohum Foundation, she has conducted individual work with neurodivergent children.
She completed the Integrative Psychotherapy training and Hypnosis training provided by Tahir Özakkaş within the Psychotherapy Institute. She received APT-approved Play Therapy training from Reyhana Seedat. Her areas of work with children include Child-Centred Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, Filial Therapy, Puppet Therapy, Art Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Child EMDR. She completed Level 1 Experiential Play Therapy training from Nilüfer Devecigil and Level 2 Experiential Play Therapy training from Byron E. Norton. She received Story Play Therapy training from Dr. Joyce C. Mills, Schema Therapy for children and adolescents training from Dr. Christof Loose, and Sex Therapy training from Cem Keçe at the Sexual Health Institute Association.
Integrative psychotherapy, flash therapy (hurry/surge therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and hypnosis are techniques she actively uses in her psychotherapy work when necessary. Her other areas of clinical practice include relational therapy, solution-focused therapy, emotion-focused couples therapy, integrative systemic family therapy, psychotherapy with difficult adolescents and their families, coping with anxiety and relaxation techniques, substance abuse, and attachment and separation-individuation issues.
She is a member of the Psychotherapy Association and the Hypnosis Association.
